Unless you’ve got a naturally fast metabolism, losing weight takes a lot of time and effort — a lot of crunches, planks, and hours spent on the treadmill or stationary bike, and a lot of time spent counting calories. Of course, losing weight is worth all that effort; after all, just taking off a small percentage of your total weight can help reduce your risks of serious health issues like high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. Losing more weight comes with even more benefits, like finally fitting into those skinny jeans or just feeling better about the way your body looks.
That’s why it can be so discouraging when, after dropping all those pounds, you’re still left with pockets of stubborn fat, bulging out in the most conspicuous areas, like your belly, waist, flanks, thighs, and back. And no matter how much exercise you do, those trouble spots just won’t slim down, despite your absolute best efforts. Do you give up? No. That’s when it’s time to consider CoolSculpting®, a noninvasive body sculpting system that’s designed to target those trouble spots and eliminate stubborn fat once and for all. At Naaman Clinic, we offer state-of-the-art CoolSculpting to help both women and men finally see the results they’ve been working so hard to achieve. Here’s how it works.
CoolSculpting: Using cold to melt fat
Unlike other laser-based body sculpting systems that use laser heat to melt fat, CoolSculpting uses cold energy to break down fat cells so they’re destroyed and gone for good. The CoolSculpting applicator is designed to deliver focused cold energy deep beneath the surface of your skin, directly to the fat layer. As the fat cells absorb the cold, their walls become brittle and eventually break down, releasing the fatty contents. The gentle suction action of the CoolSculpting device allows the energy to penetrate more deeply and more consistently for better results compared to systems that use flat applicators with no suction. After the fat cells are destroyed, your body carries away the debris and metabolizes it, eliminating it naturally without incisions or liposuction.
CoolSculpting can be used on lots of areas, including all those trouble spots on your belly, waist, back, thighs, and arms — even under your chin. And since there are no incisions, you don’t have the risk of infection or anesthesia-related risks like you’d have with a liposuction procedure. Plus, CoolSculpting is a lot less expensive.
Your CoolSculpting treatment
Most treatments take between a half hour to an hour, and you can have more than one area treated at the same appointment. During your treatment, you’ll relax in a comfortable room where you can nap, read, or catch up on email. You can even stream a video on Netflix if you’d like. Once you’re settled in, the CoolSculpting applicators are placed over the treatment area, allowing the cooling energy to do its work. As the treatment progresses, you’ll initially feel cold sensations throughout the treatment site, but as your body adjusts, most patients only experience some mild tingling and occasional pressure from the applicator system.
Since the CoolSculpting system doesn’t use heat, there’s no risk of burning your skin or other tissue. And because there are no incisions or anesthesia, you can go back to your regular routine right after your treatment. You might have some mild redness or tenderness in the area, and depending on your skin type, you might also experience some minor bruising, all of which will resolve soon afterward.
As for results, remember: CoolSculpting relies on your body to metabolize and eliminate the fatty debris, a process that can take several weeks. While you may see initial results at about three to four weeks, the most dramatic results won’t be visible until about eight weeks after your treatment. Your body may still be removing excess debris for weeks afterward, continuing to refine your contours.
