Spots, Scars, and Stretch Marks: Lasers Can Treat Them All

Do have perfect skin? Probably not – among acne, weight loss and gain, sun damage, aging signs, and clumsy accidents, you’re pretty unlikely to make it through life without a couple of imperfections. You may be self-conscious about these imperfections, especially if they’re on parts of your body that are clearly visible in most clothes.

In the past, there wasn’t much to be done about skin imperfections. You could try to cover or pull attention away from them, but you were mostly stuck with your spots, scars, and stretchmarks. Thankfully, that’s no longer the case. With the CO2 laser technology in Lumenis® UltraPulse®, you can improve the appearance, tone, and texture of your skin.

Ready to take your skin to the next level? Come see Evans Bailey, MD, PhD and the rest of our team at Naaman Clinic. Dr. Bailey will work with you to create a custom plan for your aesthetic needs. With Lumenis UltraPulse CO2 technology, you can get the great skin you deserve.

About ablative lasers

Ablative lasers generate beams of light that are absorbed by the body’s tissue as energy. This energy heats up the tissue to the point that it evaporates, which is also known as ablation. The tissue that has been ablated is replaced by fresh, healthy tissue that blends in with the rest of the skin.

The CO2 laser at work

The CO2 lasers used in the Lumenis UltraPulse are absorbed by the water found in the tissue you wish to alter. The laser energy heats up the water until it reaches a boiling point, causing the evaporation of the impacted tissue.

Tissue around the lasered area is also heated, but not to the point that it ablates. Instead, the heat induces processes that stop any bleeding and spur the creation of new collagen, which will fill the ablated area. The overall effect of ablation is the removal of skin and the stimulation of the body to replace it with newer, younger skin.

What can CO2 lasers treat?

The Lumenis UltraPulse is most often used for reversing the signs of aging by minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and smoothing out your skin tone. Other uses include:

The CO2 laser’s multiple treatment benefits are known to help restore a youthful appearance overall.

Treatment pain and frequency

The Lumenis UltraPulse shoots its laser at an incredibly high level. However, it does so at the lowest possible energy level, which reduces your discomfort, healing time, and your risk of burns or skin damage. You should feel virtually no pain and will be able to resume your usual activities the day of treatment.

Although you may need more than one treatment, you’re going to have dramatic results starting shortly after your first session. During your consultation, Dr. Bailey will let you know how many treatments will be needed. Results should last for about 7-10 years.

Are you interested in seeing if the Lumenis UltraPulse will work for you? A consultation with Dr. Bailey is the first step. Call us, or book an appointment at one of our five Alabama offices today.
